Principal Dentist/Practice Owner
Dr Joy Lee is the Principal Dentist and Owner of Ashmore Dental. She is experienced in all facets of modern dentistry, including general, family, cosmetic dentistry and has a particular interest in implant dentistry. Dr Joy has a Masters in Dental Implants and is constantly up to date on recent advances in this area.
Joy has a loyal following of patients. She is passionate about making their experience and treatment a top priority. She constantly integrates technical developments into her practices to ensure patients spend less time in the dentist chair and more time doing the things they love.
Joy grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. She moved to Brisbane after completing high school and graduated in dentistry from The University of Queensland in 2003.
In her spare time, Joy loves to spend time with her family, enjoys pilates, snowboarding and travelling overseas.

Dentist
Dr. Lay Lim received her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Adelaide, South Australia and has worked in Adelaide and Mackay prior to joining our practice in 2022. Her compassionate and friendly professional manner are a perfect fit for the Ashmore Dental team. Dr Lay is hugely committed to providing high quality dental care with an emphasis on disease prevention. One of her missions is to help patients overcome their fear of dentists. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and is particularly passionate in the areas of paediatric dentistry and prosthodontics. She is trained in nitrous oxide administration, and loved to find techniques to reduce patients’ anxiety and keep them comfortable during procedures. She is also fluent in multiple languages i.e. English, Mandarin, Cantonese and Bahasa. Outside of dentistry, she enjoys activities such as hiking, cycling and picnics. You may likely find Lay catching up with friends while sipping a perfect cuppa in the Queensland sunshine.

Dentist
Dr. Jennifer Choi graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2008 with a BDSc and moved to Queensland soon after. She has since been practicing in both public and private dental clinics. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially preventive and restorative. Jennifer has a gentle and calm demeanour, and will ensure her patients feel comfortable in her care. She is a mum of three, and outside of work enjoys spending time with her family.

Dr Tim is a gentle and caring dentist who grew up on the Gold Coast before completing his dental studies at the University of Queensland.
Tim is committed to providing personalised dental care tailored to the unique needs of each person. With a focus on preventive dentistry and patient education, Tim is always eager to address any questions people may have. Tim takes pleasure in collaborating with patients to develop a customised treatment plan, ensuring that every visit is as comfortable as possible.
Other than dentistry, Tim enjoys spending his spare time playing or listening to music, as well as watching the latest shows.

Dentist
Dr. Manahil Khan grew up in Queensland and graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from James Cook University in 2020. Since then she has been working in Canberra and has recently relocated back to Queensland.
Committed to providing exceptional care, Manahil has undertaken extensive continuing professional development, with advanced training and postgraduate studies in dental implants and aesthetic and restorative dentistry. She combines a meticulous eye for detail with a calm, gentle approach, helping patients feel at ease.
Manahil is passionate about building genuine relationships with her patients and believes in creating a positive, personalised dental experience centred on comfort, trust, and high-quality care.
Outside the clinic, she enjoys spending time with family and friends, exploring new restaurants, staying active at the gym, reading, and unwinding with a good Netflix series.

Dentist
Dr Joel Burgess is a Gold Coast–born general dentist devoted to helping patients achieve healthy, confident smiles through personalised, evidence‑based care. After earning his Bachelor of Oral Health in Dental Science from Griffith University in 2014, he completed a Graduate Diploma of Dentistry in 2016, graduating with honours for clinical excellence.
A calm, friendly chair‑side manner is central to Dr Burgess’s approach. He understands that many people feel anxious about dental visits, so he takes extra time to explain procedures, answer questions and create a relaxed environment.
Beyond the clinic, Dr Burgess is committed to advancing the profession. As a clinical supervisor at Griffith University, he mentors dental students by guiding them through hands‑on training and reinforcing the importance of compassionate, ethical care.
